Job opening for Ultrasound Data Analyst

Working with us

At Frontwave Imaging we are developing the next generation of ultrasound image reconstructions oftware for breast cancer diagnosis and prognosis. We are a start-up company founded by scientists from BSC (Barcelona Supercomputing Center) and ImperialCollege London, and our offices are in Barcelona (Barcelona Health Hub). The core of our ultrasound image-reconstruction technology is build around a tomographic technique called full-waveform inversion (FWI), a computer-intensive algorithm that provides high-quality images with sub-millimetre resolution. This high computational cost has naturally steered us to implement our product natively in the cloud.

Following our successful first funding round, we are now growing our team of ultrasound specialists and we are looking for a new Ultrasound Data Analyst.

Job summary

Advancing towards commercialisation requires demonstrating that our product works on a variety of ultrasound tomographic datasets. The role of this position is to apply our imaging algorithms to a wide variety of ultrasound datasets, and to work closely with developers to continuously improve our product.

At Frontwave we value effective communication across different teams and believe that this is only achievable with a horizontal working structure. Therefore, you will work along software developers, scientists, clinicians, and business managers, to achieve the company’s goals together.

You will be responsible for end-to-end ultrasound data workflows including interacting with customers and partners providing the data, processing it, understanding, and interpreting its characteristics, and using it in combination with our reconstruction software to generate quantitative breast images.

Your technical day-to-day work will involve prototyping and testing of signal processing algorithms, design of effective data-visualisation strategies, quality-control of tomographic results, and analysis of data workflows.

Essential requirements

- Hold a degree on Physics, Maths, Engineering, or similar.
- Demonstrable programming skills, in particular python.
- Experience in inverse problems: imaging, tomography, or others.
- Good under standing of numerical implementations of PDEs, in particular the wave equation.
- Excellent social skills and willingness to work in a multi-disciplinary diverse team.

Desirable requirements

- Experience with full-wave form inversion (not necessarily in medical imaging).
- Experience with ultrasound data processing and imaging.
- Industry experience will be highly valued.
- Authorization to work permanently in Spain.

What we offer

- Join a dynamic, cutting-edge project with high growth potential.
- Full time permanent contract.
